Author and Bowler: Tiffany Matik’ Reese Strikes Success On The Lanes and With Literature.
Phoenix, AZ — Growing up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, during the 1980s and ’90s, Tiffany Matik' Reese often turned to children’s books as an escape from the challenges of her youth. What she never imagined was that decades later, she would be the one writing the books — not just one, but eleven and counting.
“Once you saw your name in print for the first time, you’re inspired to keep going,” she said. “Writing a novel is like throwing a perfect strike — you just want to do it again.”
For Tiffany, inspiration came naturally.
“I’ve been an author for 14 years,” she shared. “My maternal grandmother the late Leala M. Walthers inspired me to write and continue her legacy.” Her maternal grandmother did not publish any novels but journaling was her go too.
To date, her published works include Apostille Journal of Authentications, Let Yourself Heal, Notary Journal, Wedding Officiant Journal, The Fundamental Journal of Notarizations 2025 Enhanced, Breathe and Thrive Planner, Get Lifted: Quotes for Transforming Grief and Trauma into Healing, and three titles in The Art of Connection series.
“It took about a year to understand the publishing community and decide which route to take,” Tiffany explained. “My current memoir, which I’ve been working on for five years, will cover the first 40 years of my life.”
Like a determined bowler chasing perfection, Tiffany doesn’t let setbacks slow her down.
“I was always taught to keep going and never give up,” she said. “I still feel overwhelmed every time I see my books published or recognized.”
Her books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, through local publishers, and directly from her. Current projects include Get Lifted: Quotes to Light the Path for Healing & Personal Renewal, Dark Places, and an 18-Month Planner (2026–2027) scheduled for release in January 2026. Her first published book was 2012 and most recent is 2025.
“Typically, I work on multiple books or journals at once,” she explained. “Books don’t always have a timeline—especially if they’re part of a series or sequel.”
Tiffany works with three publishers depending on the genre, often navigating multiple deadlines and the occasional writer’s block.
“When ideas come to me, I carry a small journal to jot them down,” she said. “That way, I can add to my manuscripts later.”
She enjoys connecting with readers who are often surprised to learn she’s an author.
“People always ask how I got started and what’s next,” she said. “Some even ask me for guidance on how to begin their own writing journey.”
After every publication, Tiffany celebrates her hard work.
“Each time I publish a book, I go out to dinner with close friends who support my vision,” she said with a smile. “I always gift them a signed copy of my newest release.”
Her defining moment as an author came when she realized she wanted to share her story for the sake of others.
“The turning point was when I decided to keep writing because my experiences could help someone else," she said. "I’m living proof that it does.”
From the Page to the Lanes
Tiffany graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1997 and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from Kent State University in 2012. In high school, she ran track and cross country, and also played volleyball and basketball. But another sport captured her long-term attention — bowling.
She began bowling at 14 and credits the sport as both a passion and a form of therapy.
“Bowling has been a mental reset and a social connection for me,” she said. “It’s something that keeps me grounded while still prioritizing my personal life.”
According to Bowl.com, Tiffany bowled in Cleveland’s Lads and Lassies League during the 2002–03 season at Brunswick Ambassador Lanes, averaging 124 for 105 games. After relocating to Arizona, she joined the Sunday Vegas League at Bowlero Union Hills during the 2023–24 season, averaging 131 for 87 games.
Between writing and bowling, Tiffany stays busy refining her craft. She studies lane conditions, follows industry updates, learns about new equipment, and reviews her own gameplay.
“Bowling is like any craft — it changes slowly, but it changes,” she said. “You’ve got to stay curious, keep learning, and stay humble enough to adapt. It’s a forever learning sport. Pins will be pins!”
Her efforts have paid off. Tiffany calls 2025 her best year on the lanes yet. She won first place in doubles at the Postal Federal Employees National Bowling Tournament in Chicago, raised her average by 25 pins, and placed second in an AHT/Strikeforce Tour event. She is also a proud member of the Arizona Bowlerettes and the National Women’s 500 Club. Tiffany is also apart of Greatness Never Settles (GNS). Tiffany is currently active on four leagues and bowls tournaments within all 50 states.
Recently, Tiffany was named an influencer for Virtue Bowling Supply.
“When people find out I’m an author, they’re always intrigued,” she said. “Becoming an influencer allows me to represent a company that embraces bowlers of all skill levels.”
Always Striving Forward
Never one to slow down, Tiffany is currently pursuing a degree to be a Nurse Practitioner at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
“I’ve always wanted to complete my nursing degree,” she said. “I’m a planner — I prioritize based on deadlines and use digital tools to stay organized and active in all my projects.”
With her unshakable focus and drive, it’s clear Tiffany Matik’ Reese will continue to excel in everything she pursues — whether it’s writing the next best-selling book or bowling her next perfect game.
