Tucson - - - Four bowlers dominated their divisions en route to big wins in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at Bowlero Tucson.
Aiden Ruiz-Jimenez began the scratch division stepladder finals with a 222-178 win over Ryan Doyle, making his second consecutive top four finish. Daryus Alo then stepped in and stopped Ruiz-Jimenez 224-178 to reach the title game.
Top seed Nathan Harnit and Alo had been by far the top two bowlers of the day, trading the lead several times throughout the tournament. The title match wasn’t as close though, as Daryus saved his best for last, firing an 11-strike 280 monster to beat Harnit’s fine 214 and earn Alo the sixth title of his JBT career.
Any age and height can succeed at JBT events, and this was shown again in the first match of the handicap stepladder finals, as the shortest guy in the finals, 6 year-old Harvey Howe, beat the tallest, Cameron Carlo, 227-176 (check out the picture on our facebook page). Olivia Gee then won a close match over Howe 225-216 to advance to the final. Top seed Maurice Boston-Sand completely owned the event, leading since game two. The title match was a bit rockier, but he came through in the end for a 199-192 win, and the first title of his JBT career.
Kendall Bollea dominated Girls Scratch all day but needed a late-game turkey to stop up-and-coming Ari Hunt 184-178 for that title, while Harnit was consoled by not only earning the top spot in U17, but also nailing the ‘29’ jackpot for another $100 bonus!
Huge thanks as always to JBT grad Jacob Smith and his team for a great job hosting our Tour. Want in on all this fun? Just check out our upcoming schedule, and we hope to see you soon!

Tucson - - - Padilla was the winning name in Tucson, as unrelated Cesar and Diego each won JBT titles in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at Bowlero Tucson.
Qyalifying games, advancers moved on to ‘pick your poison’, where higher seeded bowlers chose who they wanted to to play in head to head matches. Fourteen scratch bowlers were carved down to four, and in those matches, top qualifier Dylan Donahue stopped Jason Gootzeit 244-166, while #2 seed Cesar Padilla eliminated previous day’s champ Daryus Alo 235-208, to set up the 1 vs 2 finale. In the ensuing match, Padilla, throwing plastic all day, blasted a 280 on a challenging short pattern to beat the tough Donahue and capture the 16th title of his JBT career, as well as his third straight personally.
In the handicap division, another Padilla, Diego (the brother of scratch competitor Luis) claimed the top spot, and rolled in matchplay, including a 205-186 semifinal win over Cameron Coleman, to advance to the final. He’d face GCU bowler Skyler Taylor, who proved poisonous to Terrell Coates 176-140 to move on the final game. Diego wasn’t to be stopped, cruising to a win over Taylor and earn the first title of his JBT career.
Mackenzie Paige struggled in qualifying but then blasted a 267 to beat top qualifier Kendall Bollea for the day’s Girls Scratch title. Rising star Christian Ortega also strung the strikes, firing 246 to beat Gootzeit for the U17 win. Nathan Harnit won the ‘29’ jackpot for the second straight day, which we believe hasn’t happened before. The individual highlight of the day though was from Jacob Vasquez, going 10-7-5 to nail the PowerBowl jackpot, earning a whopping $1,000 scholarship bonus!
JBT alum Jacob Smith and his team at Bowlero were flawless hosts as usual, and our sponsors and good attendance helped well over $6,000 to be awarded on the weekend. Want to try for a piece of that? Just check out our schedule and reserve your spots today!
