JBT Brings Talented Tour For Doubles And Team Classic - Courtesy Of JBT.
Mesa - - - A veteran team racked up another title on their resumes, while another combo finally broke through for first wins, in exciting action at the 29th annual JBT Arizona Doubles Classic, hosted by Bowlero Mesa on December 13.
Andrew Gibbons and TJ Eggert began the baker-format handicap division stepladder finals with a 193-177 win over fellow ASU bowlers Donna Michaelson and Amanda Henderson. Gibbons and Eggert just squeezed by the Tucson duo of Glenn Long and Ethan Brancatelli 205-194 to advance to the finals. Top seeds Carter Gross and Zackary Evans have not only been oh-so-close to JBT titles in singles events, but teamed up for the runner-up spot here last year. This time they would not be denied, coming through with the win for their first career JBT titles each.
In the scratch division, Juan Canez and Liam Bakalich came up with a 258-216 win over Mike Jones and Mathew Adragna to begin the stepladder finals. Gage Baker and Cesar Padilla then stopped Liam and Juan 225-187 to advance to the final. 16-time JBT champ Riley Dempsey teamed with Jovan Mercado to nab the top seed, but fellow 16-time winner Padilla and 11-time champ Baker got on a roll they would never let go of, cruising in the finale 246-191 for their 17th an 12th career wins respectively.

Mesa - - - A talented quintet survived a tough field en route to the title at the annual JBT Arizona Baker Team Challenge, hosted by Bowlero Mesa on Sunday December 14.
After ten qualifying teams, the top 8 advanced to a 2 of 3 matchplay bracket. The top seeded team of Nicholas and Nathan Harnit, Jakob and Paul Enright, and Ari Hunt were the only team to finish qualifying plus, and had their hands full in every match, going the distance in all of them. Each teammate repeatedly came up clutch throughout and when the team of Garrett Kelsay, Donna Michaelson, Cesar Padilla, Aliyas Sargento, and Jayden Briggs won game one of the finals, the top seeds responded with their best. A big 243 pushed the match to a final game, in which they pulled away early, capturing the title in style. It’s Nathan’s 8th career JBT title, Nicholas’ 7th, Jakob’s 4th, Ari’s 3rd, and finally a first win for Jakob’s dad Paul, a frequent partner at many JBT team and doubles events.
