Phoenix - - - The Men's Team's first trip to the Hoosier Classic has come to a close, on February 20th.The guys battled hard against all of the top teams in the country! After Day 1, we found ourselves inside of the top 20 after a great 1075 game to end the day. Josh Molloy led the way with a 12th place finish out of 527 bowlers. Matt also cracked the top 50 with a 40th place finish. Day 2 brought the toughest lane condition we've faced all season, a 37' 1:1 ratio pattern. The team struggled to put together a solid string of games and which dropped them to 25th in the final standings. Nonetheless, it was a solid inaugural performance and should land us with our highest season-ending national ranking in program history!
USBC Sectional assignments will be announced on Wednesday. There is a lot of work to be done in the coming weeks to prepare, but Coach Canfield and Dempsey are confident that what the team learned this weekend will lead to postseason success. It was ladies' day on Tour, as Aileen Linares and Kendall Bollea claimed JBT titles in exciting Mountain Conference action at Pojoaque's Strike Gold Lanes.
John Green led the high-scoring scratch field in qualifying, and defeated Harper Schmidt in the semifinals, in a match that also counted as the U17 final. Meanwhile, Linares escaped in a 'nervewracker' playoff over Joshua Burnett to make it 1 vs. 2 in the finals. No nervewracker was needed there, as Aileen kept up her big strike strings to beat Green in two straight, and earn the second open scratch title of her JBT career to go along with a Girls Scratch Main Event win.
Fourteen handicap qualifiers were whittled down to four in matchplay, and in the resulting semifinals, Land Matthies beat Robert Lawrence, and Bollea stopped Emma Kitchens in a 265-263 (with pins) thriller to reach the final game. That match was all Kendall, as Land struggled with carry and Bollea poured on the strikes for the win, the eighth title of the two-time defending handicap Bowler of the Year's career.
Montana Cdebaca beat Linares for the girls scratch title in her final appearance before hip surgery this week, good luck! Brock Bivins and Caitlyn White captured JBT titles in exciting Mountain Conference action at Strike Gold Lanes at the Pojoaque Pueblo.
Harper Schmidt began a run up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 256-206 win over Joshua Burnett. He kept the strikes coming in a 237-165 win over John Green to reach the final. Top seed Brock Bivins and Schmidt rolled good games in the final, but a tenth frame spare from Brock shut out Harper, and the 227-222 final was good for the sixth title of the reigning TPC champs' JBT career.
In the handicap division, newcomer to JBT Caitlyn White put on a Houdini act to climb the ladder. Needing 20 pins in the tenth to tie Mia Medina in game one, White doubled for a 212-205 win. She then squeezed by Kendall Bollea 200-190, in a game that simultaneously counted as the Girls Scratch title game. Top seed Seth Martinez had led the field almost all day with some terrific scoring, but the title match went back and forth. This time needing twenty pins to win, White struck on the first ball, then spared a 10-pin for the 210-209 win, and first career JBT title.

Tucson - - - 78th Annual Tucson Metro USBC Open Championships Update: Your Tucson Metro USBC Board is proud to report that as of February 16, there are 97 Teams competing in the Championships which began on, February 19-20 at Fiesta Lanes.
This marks a 42% increase in participation from 2020.
Squad #10, which bowls at 1:30 pm on March 5, is closed.
Your Tucson Metro USBC Board wants to thank you, the bowlers taking part and helping to bring bowling back.

Pepsi Sectionals This Weekend At Bowlero Kyrene - Courtesy Of AZ State USBC.
Chandler - - - Pepsi sectionals are this weekend! February 26-27. North Sectionals are at Bowlero Kyrene in Chandler AZ. South Sectionals are at Bowlero Tucson in Tucson AZ. Parents and coaches don't forget there is a dress code for the kids. Make sure they are followed or your child will not be able to participate until they are met!
Appropriate attire shall be worn and will be neat, clean, and proper fitting. Non-tattered blouses, shirts, or jerseys must have a Butterfly Collar or a MOCK COLLAR, it must have sleeves and be hip length if not tucked in. Nice Pants or Jeans with NO FRAYED HEMLINES; SHORTS may be worn if they go past the fingertips 2 inches while standing with arms relaxed by their side. NO SPORT SHORTS, sweatpants, gym pants, or Leggings WILL BE ALLOWED). Bowlers will not wear hats/caps (unless medically approved). Youth are to be in bowling attire when checking in and must stay in the approved attire until finish bowling. Youth participants will not wear apparel or use bowling equipment depicting alcohol, tobacco, gambling, an illegal substances, or be inappropriate.
