Picking Up The Spares - July 2, 2024

Strike Force Tour News - Courtesy Of SFT. Photo Courtesy Of SFT.

Tempe - - - We were at AMF McRay today, Sunday June 30, for a 2-Squad tournament to wrap up the 2024 Spring Quarterly Circuit (April - June). We would have a great turnout with 103 total entries (74 qualifying and 29 parlays) paying out just over $6,000 in main and side event prizefunds.

The bowlers played on a higher scoring 35ft Kegel Boardwalk oil pattern that saw some big scores throughout the day. We would see a nail biter Finals match as it would all come down to the tenth frame to determine our winner. Alex Benton would get a much needed strike to take home his 1st AHT SFT title and $1,050.00 first place prize. Congrats to Michael Pospeshil on second place for $500.00. Also, congrats to Dylan Taylor on third place for $300.00.

Thanks to everyone that came out today to bowl our tournament. Also, thanks to Rebecca Deane and the staff at AMF McRay for hosting us this weekend and providing such wonderful service. Also, thanks to Michael Dragon for helping out so we can keep these events going.

Tournament results and event summary will be online in the next few days. Good luck to everyone heading up to Vegas to the True Amateur Tournament (TAT).

We’ll be back in a couple of weeks for another 2-squad tournament at Bowlero Kyrene to kick off the Summer Quarterly Circuit.

Smart To Provide New Bonus Scholarships This Fall - Courtesy Of Bowl.Com.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The United States Bowling Congress Scholarship Management and Account Reporting for Tenpins (SMART) program announced a policy change to provide new bonus scholarships in the fall to active SMART recipients.

Under the policy, when SMART deposited unassigned funds in provider accounts are not used by their expiration date, those funds will be distributed equally to active recipients in that state. SMART defines an active recipient as one who used funds in the preceding calendar year.

SMART Providers receive SMART deposited unassigned scholarship funds annually. If the provider chooses not to assign those funds to a recipient within two years, they expire. The first expiration of SMART deposited unassigned funds will take place July 31, 2024. Under this new policy, the expiring funds will be assigned to active recipients throughout the providers’ state.

The intent of this policy change is to quickly move expiring SMART deposited unassigned funds to recipients for use and keep the funds within the same geographic area. The amount of the new fall bonus scholarship will vary by state depending on the amount of expiring provider funds and number of active recipients within the state.

Earlier this year, USBC announced an investment earnings allocation of $7 million to provide additional scholarships for youth bowlers in 2024. The $7 million allocation was consistent with funding provided in 2022 and 2023 and matched the largest investment earnings allocation in SMART history.

In addition to the earnings allocation, SMART also allocated an additional $1 million to the SMART Pell Grant Match program.

Active SMART recipients will see the new bonus scholarships posted in their accounts in September.

For more information on SMART, visit BOWL.com/SMART.

A PSA From B3 In Tempe.

Tempe - - - We hope everyone is having a great Summer! Even though it seems like it just began, the 2024-2025 league season will be here before we know it. If you have set goals for yourself in the upcoming season, now is the best time to start working toward them. Waiting until the season starts can put you behind the eight ball and make the changes much more difficult to implement.

Reach out to us today to schedule a lesson or some time on our lanes to take advantage of the tools we have to offer. It is never too soon to start working toward your goals!

“The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to make sure that as soon as you set them you immediately begin to create momentum.”

~ Tony Robbins.

Mesa - - - We are thrilled to announce some exciting promotions within Virtue Bowling Supply that will take effect on 7/8!

DJ Kneifel has been promoted from Bowlero Mesa store manager to Director of Quality Control. DJ will work closely with all managers and technicians to ensure our high standards in work and customer service are being met across all employees and all stores. He will also manage the hiring and training of all employees. We feel that based on our customers responses to his work over the last 5 years that he is the perfect person for the job. He will also continue to be available for customer appointments and at Bowlero Mesa on a weekly basis (you can breathe now lol).

Richard Kasting Jr. is stepping up from assistant manager to store manager of Bowlero Mesa. Richard has earned significant trust and a loyal following in his first year, and we are confident in his ability to lead our flagship store.

Josh Molloy will take Rich's previous role as the new assistant manager at Bowlero Mesa, promoted from Master Technician. Josh, an accomplished GCU bowler, has been with Virtue for four years and is more than ready for this new role.

With these changes, Phil can catch his breath finally (lol) and now focus his efforts as Director of inventory, eCommerce, partnerships, and events, while DJ focuses on quality control and customer experience inside our stores.

We are very excited about the quality of our team and hope to continue to raise the bar in our industry and grow bowling in Arizona. Please join us in congratulating them all!
