Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Desert Sky Lanes and we had nice little turnout with 66 total entries (43 qualifying and 23 economy parlay), 21 total cashers, and a 1 in 3.15 cash ratio and paid out over $3,200.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the 42ft Autobahn oil pattern. Most of the players played in the middle of the lane trying to push their ball out past the 2nd arrow.  This house typically has a lot of friction and it didn't take very long for the pattern to break down which forced players to move further left resulting in some very high scores.  The average cut for today was about +100, which meant that bowlers had to bowl at least 20 or more pins higher than their regular average.

As always, we want to welcome our first-time bowlers to the SFT AHT family!  We'd like to welcome Sara O'Conner, Craig Lester and Desirae Johnson-Kroman to our little bowling family!  We hope you all had a good time at your first event and we look forward to seeing you at the next one!  Congrats to Eddie Thompson on being this weekend's only Parlay Power Player.  Eddie was able to advance to the quarterfinals through the $25.00 Economy Parlay!  Your winner of the free plastic ball raffle, with an option to upgrade to any Track high-performance ball, was Taylor Massey.

The quarterfinals, like the rest of the event, were very high scoring with the standings tight and being determined by the final game of the quarterfinals.  In the A Division, your #1 seed would be Eric Flick (+193) and he would have to take on SFT AHT veteran Dylan Taylor (+154).  The B and C Divisions would cut down to the top bowler in each division, since the cut ratio is 1 in 3 and there were only 5 bowlers in the quarterfinals for those Divisions.  Your leader in the B Division was Blake Cockerham (+121) and in the C Division it would be Brandon Johnson-Kroman (+144).  Both Blake and Brandon would be seeded directly into the final match.   In the A Division Semi-final match would see Eric Flick take a couple of frames to get lined up, which we then would see Dylan start off the match on a tear putting up a huge 266 game scratch to win, 266 to 250.

Going into the Final match, Dylan would seem to be the heavy favorite.  He was looking for his 4th title of the 2019 season and 8th overall title, trying to catch up to the late, great Lynn Arthur who holds the record of SFT AHT titles with 10.  What is truly amazing about Dylan's performance is that he gets zero handicap and most of his wins this season have been without any handicap.  He would be giving up some pins in this match as Blake would receive 24 pins and Brandon would get 46 pins of handicap.  Both Blake and Brandon were making their Finals debuts and both were looking to get their first SFT AHT title.

In the Finals, the match would start off with Dylan opening to put himself in a small hole.  Brandon and Blake would both start out the gates quickly, striking and trying to build a lead.  Blake would open in the third frame after leaving a nasty 5-6 split.  Brandon would also open in the fourth by missing a ten pin.  This would give Dylan a chance to get back into the match.  After opening in the first frame Dylan would go on to throw a four-bagger and put himself back into the match.  Blake would struggle with transition and would stay clean until the tenth frame finishing the match with a 209.  Dylan would stone-9 in the eighth frame and ring ten the ninth frame.  Going into the tenth he would need all three in order to put some pressure on Brandon to fill his frame.  Dylan would show why he's the current player of the race leader by striking on all three balls to finish at 226.  Brandon would need to mark in the tenth to win and his first ball looked good off his hand, but went high leaving the 3-6-10.  Now he just needed a spare to win, but ended up chopping the 6-10 to finish at 226, which would result in a tie with Dylan and force a ninth-tenth frame roll off.

The ninth and tenth frame roll off would see Brandon receiving a pro-rated 9.2 pins of handicap while Dylan would receive zero handicap.  Brandon would start off his ninth frame with a crushing strike.  Dylan would get up next and throw all ten back in his ninth frame too.  Dylan would finish his tenth frame with all three strikes to finish at 60 and forcing Brandon to double to win.  Brandon would throw his first ball in the tenth for a strike; on his second ball everyone held their breath as he was able to crush the pocket for a strike and the win.  He would finish the roll-off with a score of 67.2 giving him his first SFT AHT Title and $650.00!  Congrats to Dylan Taylor for 2nd place and also to Blake Cockerham for finishing in 3rd place.

Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend and supported the event.  We look forward to seeing you all next Sunday for our 3-Squad Standard event at Bowlero Kyrene!  Happy Father's Day and have a great week!
