Jacob Buettner wins 1st SFT Title at AMF Mesa! - SFT News Courtesy Of SFT.
Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa lanes, which we hadn't been at in a long time and it showed! The bowlers were ready to come out and bowl in this center again! We had a great turnout with 130 total entries (87 qualifying entries & 43 economy parlay entries) 35 total cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $6,900.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on a 43ft Mexico City oil pattern, which started with higher scoring than we had seen on a fresh pattern, but the scoring pace remained the same for all three squads with the average cut being around +60 for all three divisions.
We want to welcome another group of new bowlers to the SFT AHT family. Justin Golden, Tyler Anderson, Sean Casey, Edward Hurd, Jacob Smith, Matthew Barr and Tanner Shipman were all bowling in their first event this weekend and we want to welcome them all to the growing SFT community! It's amazing to see that we still are getting new bowlers every week. We hope you all had a good time in your first event, and we look forward to seeing you at the next one! A special congrats Max Premeau for being our only Parlay Power Player this weekend! Max was able to turn his $25 investment into a spot in the quarterfinals and a chance at our $1,200 first place prize. Congrats to Sean Ashley and Chris Weyrauch for both winning Momma's Mystery Score today. Sean won $50.00 with a score of 188 and Chris won $500.00 with a score of 162. Also, congrats to Sean Ashley for winning the drawing for a free plastic ball with an option to upgrade to any high-performance Track bowling ball for $85.00.
The quarter finals the scores were still high as they had been for most of the day, even though we had re-oiled before the round. In the A Division the players moving on were Eric Flick as the #1 seed, at +143, and Chase Nadeau was the #2 seed, at +119. Chase was making a return after taking a bit of time off. The B Division would pit Bryton Bobbitt, +93, against newcomer Jacob Buettner, +86, who was in his debut in the semi-final round. In the C Division, since there were nine quarterfinalists, we would see three bowlers make it to the semi-final match. Your #1 seed was Max Premeau, at +171, who had shot an impressive 300 game in the quarterfinals to secure his spot. He would be facing off against Joe Huber, +155, and Thomas Darnell, +93, who were all making their first appearance in the semi-finals.
The A Division semi-final would see Chase Nadeau throw a ton of strikes to defeat Eric Flick, 274 to 197. The B Division semi-final would come down to the final frame with Jacob Buettner striking out to come from behind and defeat Bryton Bobbitt, 229 to 208. The C Division semi-final would see Joe Huber and Thomas Darnell stay with Max Premeau, but Max was able to out strike them to punch his ticket to the Final match.
All three bowlers in the Finals would be looking to win their 1st ever AHT SFT title and $1,200. Jacob Buettner was the only bowler remaining who was not in the progressive pot, so the most he could win was $600.00. He had plenty of new fans, in the remaining bowlers watching the match, and with his win any progressive pot money left over in the prize fund would be dispersed to the other quarterfinalists.
The Final match would start off with Chase Nadeau continuing to string strikes, opening the match with a three bagger, to jump out to an early lead. Jacob Buettner would try to keep pace with Chase, also throwing a three bagger in the 2nd through 4th frames. Max Premeau would struggle to get lined up, missing spares in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th frames. Halfway through the match and Chase would continue to lead. In the sixth frame Chase threw a nice shot only to leave a pocket 7-10, giving Jacob and Max a chance to get back into the match. In the 7th frame, Jacob would roll the 4-7 for a late strike. Jacob would seize this opportunity and strike in the 8th and 9th frames to put pressure on Chase, who would have strike out in the ninth and tenth to stay in the lead. Max would strike out in the ninth and tenth to finish at 228, but it was too little too late. Chase would stay clutch and strike out in the tenth for a score of 237, putting all the pressure back on Jacob. Jacob would need to mark in the tenth to win. Jacob would get up and throw a good ball but leave the 4-pin standing. He was able to pick up his spare and win his first AHT SFT title and $600.00! Congrats to Chase for taking 2nd place and to Max Premeau for 3rd place.
We would like to thank everyone for coming out this weekend and supporting the event. We look forward to seeing you all again next Sunday at Glenfair Lanes! Hope you all have a great week!
