Canfield Finishes Seventh Season At GCU - Courtesy Of Ben Canfield.

Phoenix - - - Year 7 at GCU is in the books! It felt great to be back in full swing for the first time since 2019. I'm so proud of how far we have come as a program, which is beyond anything I could have imagined in 2015. I am extremely grateful for the young men and women that have played a role in elevating us to this point!

The Men's team posted their most successful regular season to date, which earned them a national ranking of 19th. They excelled out West and held their own at 3 Tier 1s, including the Hoosier for the first time. The relatively inexperienced squad fell short of our postseason goals, but I'm confident those shortcomings will lead to future success.

The Women battled hard all year. There is only one other Women's team out West, which doesn't provide them as many opportunities to compete. Even so, they prepped for Club Nationals for two solid months and it paid off. They took down the #1 club team in the match-play bracket and should be very proud of that accomplishment!

To the seniors leaving the program, thank you for your time and dedication to the Lopes Bowling family. You will be missed by many!

Thank you to Cameron and Emily for taking time out of their lives to coach and travel with the team. And thank you to Riley for going above and beyond to help the team in so many ways this season. Last but not at all the least, thank you to my wonderful wife, Lacey, for consistently supporting the team and allowing me to pursue my passion for coaching!

Tournament Season Concludes In Tucson - - - Courtesy Of Mark Kerr

Tucson - - - The 2021-22 Tucson Metro USBC Tournament Season has concluded and your Board again wants to thank the bowlers who took part in the tournaments, those who attended in support, sponsors, Visit Tucson and the management and staff of the Vantage Bowling Centers and Bowlero for hosting the events. There was an increase in the number of bowlers who took part during this season than compared to the last two years and we are grateful for the support.

With the tournament season done, your Board are doing a post mortem on the tournaments, the rules, structure, time of squads and all other aspects to plan now for the 2022-23 season, which will include a “Welcome Back” Sweeper Tournament and the Tucson Metro USBC Queens Tournament.

If you have suggestions, comments or thoughts on the tournaments and ideas for the Board to review and potentially change, please send your suggestions to: am@tucsonmetrousbc.com and we look forward to taking them up.
