Strike Force Tour News - From Strike Force Tour. November 22, 2024.

Exciting Updates for the Strike Force Tour Aht!

Please share or tag anyone that might be interested in knowing about this or applying.

We will have some brand new tournament directors join us in 2025 and we want to insure they are set up for success and that this is another stage of growth and excitement for our members. For 12 years, the Strike Force Tour has stood by its innovative, transparent, and membership-driven structure and we are excited to expand on that.

If you aren't aware of how SFT works, unlike many other events that have a “tournament czar” that determines everything with a minimally transparent set of rules, you—our members—decide the rules at our annual Year-End Meeting, we then update our 14 page rulebook that is always available on our site and then the TD enforces what you decide. We’ve always ensured transparent rules, payouts, and processes that put the power in your hands, and that commitment hasn’t changed.

To enhance this approach, we’re introducing a new Advisory Council as an extension of this structure. This group will:

- Help us prepare an agenda for the year end meeting to speed up conversation around potential improvements.

- Help make decisions in nuanced situations where the rulebook isn’t clear.

- Provide feedback and ideas to improve events year-round.

- Act as a voice for the membership, allowing for quicker changes when needed.

- With new tournament directors joining in 2025, this Advisory

Council will ensure that communication between members and directors remains strong and that your wants and needs drive the future of SFT AHT.

- A full list of council members will also be fully transparent and available online once determined.

We’re inviting trusted, active members to apply to join the Advisory Council. Once selected, we’ll host a video meeting before the Year-End Meeting to share ideas, review results, systems, entry counts, and other key data. These insights will help ensure any membership-driven changes can be voted on at the Year-End Meeting and implemented at the start of the 2025 season.

If you’re interested in joining, apply here: https://forms.gle/7rNwCkHZiDLCCiGQ6

Thank you for being part of this incredible community and helping us continue to innovate and grow. Let’s make 2025 our best season yet!

PBA West Regional News - Courtesy Of The PBA - November 17, 2024

Las Vegas - - - The dust has settled on the PBA West Region for the Year.

The final 3 events last weekend - Non Champions, PBA RPI qualifier and PBA50 RPI qualifier were all contested at one of the best venues on the West Coast if not the country - the South Point Bowling Plaza.

Thanks to Angie Bonifazi, Director of Bowling Operations for the Plaza and the entire staff, Aji, Mark, Savanna, David, Fred, Joe and numerous others. The weekend was as smooth as could be.

Chase Nadeau led the The Non Champions event qualifying shooting 806 (269, 289, 248) to start and never really looked back. It took +212 to make the top 16 in the one day event.

The single elimination bracket (best of 3) was a series of upsets. Only 2 of the top 8 survived to the second round - Matt Murtishaw and Kyle Ponzo. Those 2 players were also able to advance thru the next round to face each other. Murtishaw prevailed 232-214 to face newcomer Kaven Massey who was bowling his first PBA tournament. Matt threw an impressive 267 to Kaven's 228 to earn his first title. Congrats Matt. Matt joins his father, Jim, as a PBA champion!

The PBA50 qualifying started early Saturday morning, with Michael Hartter leading the way with +220, while the cut at 24th was Waren Eales at +46. Sunday morning's first advancer's round, had Ron Hurt taking over the lead by almost 100 with a solid 1208 for 5. After the 2nd advancers round Rick Benard was the top seed for stepladder shooting 913 for his 4 games in that round. A tie for 2nd and 3rd in the stepladder required an additonal game to break the tie for the stepladder seeding and DA smith came out on top of Ron Hurt. The first match was Walter Ray Williams Jr. versus Ron Hurt and Hurt won 237-209. DA Smith then defeated Hurt 221-212 in a close match. The championship match came down to the final frame where Rick Benard needed to spare in the 10 to clinch the title 220-211 over Smith. Congratulations Rick!

The open division started Saturday afternoon with Deo Benard absolutely mauling them averaging 247 to lead the field by almost 100. After the first advancers round Deo still maintained his lead going into the 2nd advancers round. Tim Cagle II made the biggest move that round moving from 17th to 6th with 1204 for the 5 games. The second advancers round was exciting as 6 players fought for the 4 stepladder positions. Matt Zweig made a 2-4-8-10 late in game 4 to secure his spot in the finals. Deo extended his lead but Cagle was able to secure the 2nd stepladder spot. Non Member Kevin Jenkins had a solid performance throughout the tournament to qualify in the 4th spot.

Kevin Jenkins defeated Matt Zweig in the first stepladder match 237-199. The second match was a high scoring affair with Tim Cagle II winning 256-245. Cagle II moving on to the title match vs tournament leader Deo Benard, In another high scoring match, Cagle II started with the front 7 strikes, while Benard had 2 spares thru 7 frames. Benard finished first with 258 forcing Cagle to get the first 2 strikes in the 10 for the win. He did just that taking home his 2nd title of the year and 5th overall. Congrats Tim!
