Turkey Trot At Rim Country Bowl In Payson - From Michael 'Chip' Begg.
Payson - - - If you are not doing anything on Sunday November 12, why not make a trip up to Payson. And bowl in the third annual MMA Turkey Trot at Rim Country Bowl in Payson.
This fun event is a 5 gamer, and all five games are bowled on the same pair. Entry fee for the tournament is $50. Check-in is at 10, and bowling starts at 11.
Rim Country Bowl, a 16 lane bowling center, is located at 1109 North Beeline Highway in Payson. Payson is 90 miles north of Mesa, on Highway 87.

GCU Prevails In Annual Grudge Match.

Scottsdale - - - The Grand Canyon University Bowling team took the drive across town for the 8th Annual Grudge Match against Arizona State University and returned with the trophy following a 19.5-10.5 victory Saturday. This marks the third time in the event's history that the Lopes have won, and the first time since 2018.
The Lopes' squad got off to a good start, winning 2-1 in each of the first four matches of the day, putting them in a comfortable 8-4 lead.
"Our performance was a complete team effort," said GCU Head Coach Ben Canfield. "Members from all levels of our travel team were earning points, and that put us in a good spot. It really speaks to our depth."
The GCU JV2 team also secured enough points to close out the event in the first set of best-of-five Baker matches, marking the earliest that the Grudge Match result has ever been decided.
"The other coaches and I were definitely impressed by the chemistry of those guys," said Canfield about his second team. "They played a big role in us sealing the win."
Now, the Lopes squad has just over two weeks until they depart to Diamond Bar, California, for their season-opening tournaments: The Oak Tree Lanes Open and Floria Financial Services Open on November 18 and 19.
"We still haven't bowled a real event quite yet, but it was still good to get some positive momentum," said Canfield. "We're very excited to see how far the team can go this year."

Tucson - - - Tucson Metro USBC Board is sponsoring an in-league bowling tournament that will be held during your league bowling in November to support BVL (Brightening Veteran Lives).
Tucson Metro USBC will donate $2,000 to the prize fund with $250 1st place guaranteed.
You can only cash twice.
Cost: $5.00 (100% entry fee donated to BVL)
Rules:
1. Eligible: Every adult bowler who is at least 18 years of age by October 31, 2023, and is a member of a certified league in the bowling center through which he/she is entered and has an average based on a minimum of 9 games in the league by October 31, 2023
2. Entry forms are at the front desk.
3. Bowlers will complete the entry form and give it to the front desk with their $5.00 before the start of the league. Bowlers must turn in their score immediately after bowling.
4. Bowlers may enter as many times as their league competes between November 4th and November 17th.
5. Bowlers can enter in every league they bowl.
6. The Average to be used in the contest each week is the average that is being used in that week’s league competition.
7. Entry Fee is $5 per entry, 100% entry fee donated to BVL.
8. Winners are declared at the end of the tournament; twenty spots are guaranteed with top prize being $250.
9. If you bowl a 4-game league, only the first three games are used
10. In the Event of a Tie, the prize will be split.
11. All matters not covered by these rules will be decided by the Tournament Director and all decisions shall be final.

Mourning The Loss Of A Special Friend In The Arizona Bowling Community. From MPUSBC.
Phoenix - - - Today, the Phoenix and Arizona State bowling communities lost a special friend.
96 year old Eli Johnson was struck by a car early this morning while crossing Thunderbird Rd and 28th Ave. Eli has been involved with the bowling community, for years even coaching youth bowlers at Glendale.
He would always call you young man or young lady and ask how are you doing!
Eli has been a friend to all bowlers.
He will be missed greatly! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
