Las Vegas, NV. - - - Hunter Mayes put on an all-time show, while Noel Gregorich doubled her title total, in terrific JBT Mojave Conference action at Las Vegas' Suncoast Bowling Center.
After qualifying, bowlers in both divisions competed in a traditional matchplay bracket to determine they day's champs. Though there was lots of excellent bowling, the scratch division was truly all about Hunter Mayes. After opening the tournament with 300-806, all he did was shoot 300 AGAIN in the semifinal to defeat Tyler Castronova (who made back to back finals on the weekend), and then a front-8 268 in the title match against 16-time winner Cerell Cardines (with a 6-8 conversion in the tenth for good measure), for 821 for the last three games, to complete a masterful 15th career JBT title. The win ties him with Theo Douthit and fellow Virtue-staffer Riley Dempsey for 21st on our all-time title list.
Dominic Montoya also had an incredible weekend, finishing third the day before, and then firing a perfect 300 of his own in qualifying- and now would be good time to note that he has been bowling competitively for all of FIVE MONTHS! The perfecto helped him to the top seed, which he defended with a semifinal win over a resurgent Dylan Donahue. On the other side of the bracket, Noel Gregorich- one of three Gregorich siblings to make the cut- defeated Keana Archeta to advance to the title match. Noel's only other JBT win came back when she was just nine years old, and she used that experience to bowl a confident title match, beating Montoya 215-208 for the second win of her JBT career.
Marisol Buckles-Ramirez and Madison Holman bowled a fantastic Girls Scratch title match, with Holman coming away with a strike-filled 256-244 win. U17 went to early-round leader Seth Stovall, who beat Castronova 220-193 for that subdivision win.

Mesa Metro To Hold BVL Fund Raiser At Rim Country Bowl In Payson.
Payson - - - The MMA will be holding its first annual Turkey Trot on Sunday November 21, at Rim Country Bowl in Payson. Cost is $50 per bowler, and all proceeds will benefit the BVL. Event is open to all bowlers of the AZ State USBC. Check-in starts at 10:00 am, and bowling to start at 11:00. It is a 5 gamer, and you will stay on the same pair all five games. Tucson - - - Thank you to all that participated in the King of the Hill at Bowlero Bowl. Had a great turnout. 31 bowlers!! congratulations to Dwight Burns who came away as the winner with Josh Moret taking second. Tucson - - - Hello Tucson Bowlers, I've got good news for you. I'll be running my scratch events again starting one Saturday in either November or December at Cactus Bowl, once I get the date of availability. Due to the respect and request of the center ownership/management, to have my events over and done with by early afternoon to 1pm for their parties/events, I'll be running scratch 6-gamers from now on instead of scratch 8-gamers. The entry fee will be only $65 and not $80 like the scratch 8-gamers were. Based on 25 entries like before, first place will be $500 and not $600, 2nd place will be $250 and not $300 compared to the 8-gamer events. This was also put into place because of an increase in lineage. I'll continue to pay the good payouts I made always, working it out to pay more than what the entry fee is for last spot to cash.
