Tucson Metro USBC Update

The 2022-23 league season has started in the Old Pueblo and your Tucson Metro USBC is already processing award patches. Gloria Harris, your Tucson Metro USBC Board member said that 110 awards have already been submitted and processed, with this season just in its first month alone!
Association Manager Steve Harris is processing league and individual sanctions and he has indicated that league numbers and members for the 2022-23 season is on the increase. Many leagues have expanded their team rosters with more bowlers taking part, as well as increased participation in the various Vegas leagues offered. Tucson Metro USBC will have a further report upcoming.
Tucson Senior Women’s Update: Entries for the 43rd Annual Tucson Metro USBC Women’s Senior Open, November 19-20 have already started to come in.
This tournament, the first on the 2022-23 schedule will take place at Tucson Bowl, 7020 East 21st Street. Both squads will bowl at 1:00 p.m., with the Team Squad on Saturday and Doubles and Singles on Sunday. It is open to Tucson Metro USBC women members, 50 and older, on or before November 19, 2022. Entry forms are at Tucson bowling centers and online at tucsonmetrousbc.com.
Bowl for the Cure at Cactus Bowl October 16: Bowl for the Cure in Arizona takes place October 15 and 16.
Tucson’s Bowl for the Cure is Sunday, October 16 at Cactus Bowl. Bowl for the Cure will have great raffle prizes, which raffle tickets can be purchased online if you can’t be at the lanes. The Tucson event’s check-in will be at 9:00 am, with bowling beginning at 10:00 am. It is a five game Baker format, so come out and Bowl for the Cure and help in the effort. Ready to Strike 2nd Annual Pay-It-Forward Wipeout Tournament: The second annual Ready to Strike Pay-It-Forward Tournament took place Saturday, September 17 at Bowlero in Tucson.
Bowlers turned out to take part in the event, which proceeds raised would go to the youth bowling programs that Tucson’s bowling centers provide. Cory Knop, owner and proprietor of Ready to Strike at Bowlero, worked hard on the fund raising effort, receiving donations from individuals and businesses, including the Knights of Pythia Tucson Chapter, Vantage Centers and Tucson Metro USBC, and was able to present the six programs, each a check for $1,100. Congratulations Cory on your efforts and we look forward to next year to Pay It Forward a third time.

Congratulations: On Monday, September 19, Billie Talley bowled a 278,242 and 300 at Bowlero. Talley reported that it was his fourth 800 series and seventeenth 300 game. Congratulations!
On Friday, September 23, Chris McHenry bowled a 290, 279 and 288 for a great 857 series on lanes 19-20 in the Ed Faulk Classic League. This was a personal best for Chris. Congratulations!
On Friday, September 30, Alan Vancleeve bowled a 300 game on lanes 31-32 in the Ed Faulk Classic League at Fiesta Lanes. Alan finished the set with an 805 series, his sixth 800 and sixteenth 300 game. Congratulations!

Theo and Pat are holding events the weekend of October 1-2 and Svet will have his King of the Hill event at Bowlero.
