Lakeview Lanes Regular Bowls to Celebrate 100th Birthday. From Ball Busters Bowling League.
_______________________
Sun City - - - Anna Eckleberry didn’t start bowling until after she retired as a teacher, but as she joined dozens of friends in the Ladies Match Point bowling league at Lakeview Lanes on Friday, she said the sport is what has kept her healthy enough to be active at 100 years old.
“Bowling is a fun activity where you make a lot of friends,” she said, after being surprised with a large cake as she arrived at her weekly Friday morning bowl. “After I retired, I tried bowling – I taught myself to bowl, and I just kept bowling. It keeps you young!”
Anna had no trouble grabbing her personal ball and expertly throwing it down the lane, showcasing that she is not slowing down her game any time soon.
“She is my inspiration,” said fellow bowler Phyllis Coxson. “I wouldn’t be bowling if not for her. She got me included after I heard her talking about going to nationals and I reached out to her to join. She’s beautiful and an inspiration to so many people.”
Anna said she has competed in national competitions in another team for almost three decades.
“It really does keep you young,” she said. “And bowling friends are forever.”
RCSC Director of Bowling Mike Dirmyer said that bowlers at both Lakeview Lanes and Bell Lanes form special bonds, as they gain skills, confidence and great exercise.
“It really is special to see a regular bowler who we have all grown to love, like Anna, using bowling to keep herself healthy and active and social,” he said. “It is the perfect demonstration of why bowling is so popular.” #SunCity #FunCity #NeverDullMoment #HappyBirthday.

Junior Bowlers Tour News - Courtesy Of JBT - Youth NM Open Took Place September 23-24, 2023.
Rio Rancho, NM. - - - Dmitri Richardson and nine year-old Madeleine Serafini captured titles at the 2023 Youth New Mexico Open, hosted by Tenpins & More at Rio Rancho to open the Mountain Conference JBT season.
John Green and Lucius Sandoval began the scratch division stepladder finals with a 168 tie, with Green winning the ensuing rolloff to advance. Green took advantage of the new life with a win over Jaxson Garton to move on to the title match. Colorado' Richardson on the Mountain Invitational to cap off a great season last year, and picked up right where he left off by dominating the tournament on the difficult pattern. After a close first half, Dmitri pulled away in the later frames to win the match, his third career JBT title, and enormous $1,250 top scholarship prize.
Gabriel Gurule made his first career finals a success with an opening round win over Alberto Medina in the handicap division. Rebecca Wilson, last year's Invitational winner in the handicap division, then rolled past Gurule to advance and try and join Dmitri as back to back winners. Top seed Serafini had other ideas, though, rolling a calm collected game while Wilson struggled a bit, and the final match victory earned Madeleine the landmark first win and another $1,250 scholarship windfall.
Garton's fine weekend continued with a win over top seed Aiden Ruiz-Jimenez for the weekend's U17 title, while Kendall Bollea beat Mia Medina for the Girls Scratch win. Thanks to the generous contribution from host center Tenpins and owner Steve Mackie, over $8,800 in scholarships were awarded to all ages and skill levels. Want in on all the fun?
