Tucson Metro Update

Tucson - - - With the 2026 Tucson Metro USBC Masters Tournament concluded, this season of tournaments is now completed. Tucson Metro USBC would like to thank everybody who took part in the tournaments, from the Welcome Back Tournament to the Masters, who took part or were there watching, cheering on the bowlers. A big thank you to the managers and staff at the Bowling centers that hosted all our tournaments.
This season, Tucson Metro USBC inducted four individuals into the Hall of Fame: Shawna Strause and Richard Curtis for Superior Performance, and Joe Salgado and Cory Knop for Meritorious Service.
Tucson Metro USBC wants to thank our sponsors and supporters: Visit Tucson, Roof Teks, JL Investment, Park Avenue Jewelers and the KayCee Club for their support of bowling in Tucson. A special thanks to Herb Grassl and Desert Bowler for their support and for allowing us to write for and update the bowling community on Tucson bowling.
This season, Tucson Metro USBC again offered the sports shot sweepers, before the Super Senior/Senior Masters and Masters, to allow bowlers to try out the bowling pattern to be used for these events. We are the only Association in the state that offers this to its bowlers.
Tucson Metro USBC also held its first Swiss Tournament, which was decided in the final game. We are looking forward to the second annual Tucson Metro USBC Swiss Tournament to be held next season.
Tucson Metro USBC has been handing out their 11 In A Row Challenge Coins to bowlers who have thrown 11 strikes in a row in a league game. These coins have received a great reaction from the bowlers, and they appreciate that they can win this Coin once a season!
TUCSON METRO USBC MASTERS UPDATE: A total of 66 bowlers took part in qualifying for the 2026 Tucson Metro USBC Masters Tournament that was held at Cactus Bowl, using the PBA Shark Pattern. The top 15 bowlers (plus last year’s champion Steve Lopez), qualified for the double-elimination finals. Here is the order they qualified for the finals:

YOUTH KING & QUEEN TOURNAMENT: Tucson Metro Youth held their King and Queen Tournament at PINZ. Thanks to Shannon and the staff at PINZ for hosting the tournament. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the bowlers who took part.

ANNUAL MEETING: Tucson Metro USBC’s Annual Meeting will take place Sunday, May 17, 1:00 PM, at the KayCee Club, 601 S. Tucson Blvd. Election of new Board Members, discussion of issues and voting on proposed measures will take place.
CONGRATULATIONS TO:
Larry Maddox, who bowled an 801 series on March 11, in the Park Avenue Jewelers Miller Lite League at PINZ.
Alex Lindahl gave it a great run this evening in the Awesome Foursome League, on March 16, with 11 in a row, but finished with a 298.
Michael Gauvin, who bowled a 300 game in the Monday VIP League at Bowlero, on March 16, on lanes 15 and 16.
Eric Hew gave it a great run during the Seniors Traveling League at Lucky Strike, on March 19, with the front 11, finishing with a 299 game
Justin Mayer had a great run in his first game of the Thursday Turkey’s League at Bowlero, on March 19, with the front 11. Justin finished with a 298 game.
Brian Centers, on March 20, gave it a good run with the front 11, finishing with a 297 game in the Ed Faulk Classic League at PINZ.
On March 25, in the Park Avenue Jewelers/Miller Lite League at PINZ, several honor scores were bowled. Jim Stoutmeyer bowled a 300 game, and Richie Barcalow bowled an 822 series and Andrew Bleakley bowled an 824 series.
Todd Thrasher gave it a great run in the third game at the Thursday Turkey’s League, on March 26, with the front 11, finishing with a 297.
Richard Alvarez, who bowled a 300 game on lanes 23-24 in the Ed Faulk Classic League on April 3.
Ryan Tetreault, who bowled 279-266-258 for an 803 series on lanes 29-30 in the Ed Faulk Classic League on April 3.
David Hart, who bowled a 300 game, on lanes 13 and 14, in the Bowlero Vegas League on April 3.
David Saldana, who bowled a 300 game in the Thursday Traveling Seniors League, April 9, at Lucky Strike.
Dave Hyatt, who bowled 269-265-279, for an 813 series in the Ed Faulk Classic League April 11 at PINZ.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE AND RULES REVIEW
April 22, 2026 – LEAGUE FEES AND TEAM ROSTERS
ALL LEAGUE FEE ACCOUNTS MUST BE PAID IN FULL FOR THE SEASON. NO EXCEPTIONS! Team captains are responsible for collecting league fees. No checks, cash or credit/debit only.
Teams cannot add new team member(s) to their roster for remainder of season except under USBC Playing Rules 107c/4. Teams are limited to six (6) members. No substitutes allowed for remainder of season.
April 29, 2026 – VIRTUE FUN SPRING 2026 CHAMPIONSHIP
Team rosters are frozen, no substitutes and no prebowling allowed. Teams will be seeded according to total points won for the season. The Team with the highest number of points at the completion of tonight’s bowling will be the Virtue Fun Spring 2026 league champion.
If there is a tie for 1st place, a one game roll-off will immediately follow the scheduled bowling. Any other ties will not have a roll off.
