(WXYZ) — The Bowling Centers Association of Michigan is suing Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel for the executive order forcing bowling alleys to stay closed.
The association is joined by five Michigan bowling alleys, saying the order is unconstitutional and should be overturned.
BCAM is the state's largest bowling trade association, representing 165 bowling centers statewide.
The lawsuit argues that if personal care services, which require personal physical contact, are allowed to reopen, bowling alleys should be able to, as well.
Bowling alleys in northern Michigan’s Regions 6 and 8 have been allowed to reopen.
Currently, recreational bowling is allowed in 45 states with proper health and safety measures. Michigan, New York, North Carolina, California and Washington prohibit it.
