Edward Lee is your 2020 Match Play Invitational winner!!! SFT News - Courtesy Of SFT.

Mesa - - -This weekend was our very final event of the 2020 season. We had our Match Play Invitational at Mesa East Bowl. The top 24 bowlers in total season points, except the Player of the Year, 2nd and 3rd place bowlers were invited to bowl this event. These bowlers were all trying to win an event exemption for the upcoming 2021 season. The winner of this event would win 2 exemptions and 2nd place would get 1 exemption for the upcoming season.

We would take check in and like in previous years we would go down the season points list trying to fill our brackets. The #24 seed would be Derek Pacheco, who had just recently started to bowl our events, and he would get in after being at #250 on the season points list. So just remember that if you are not in the top 24 then you still have a chance at bowling the event. Your top 4 seeded bowlers would receive a three round bye, while your next #5-8 seeded bowlers would get a two round bye. This would be advantageous as it would allow you to get further in the bracket without bowling as many games.

We would see a few bowlers that would lose their first match by upset with the lower seed bowlers winning their match. Since this tournament is a double elimination format, then the bowlers would still have a chance to make the Finals, but it would be a real uphill climb. A couple of the lower seeded bowlers would try to make a run in the Winner’s bracket, but would run into some trouble as the day went on. A couple of bowlers in the Loser’s bracket would make good runs as well. We would see both Willy Vuong and Robb Mansfield lose their first match, but make their way through the Loser’s bracket to make it into the money.

On the Winner’s side of the bracket we would see Edward Lee go on a huge run by winning all his matches. Edward would go on to clear out the Winner’s bracket by defeating Eddie Thompson to send him down to await the Loser’s bracket winner. Eddie would go on to face Willy Vuong and their match would go back and forth with Eddie getting enough to win the Loser’s bracket and set up a rematch with Edward Lee in the Championship match. With this being a double elimination tournament, Eddie would have to defeat Edward Lee twice in a row to win the event.

This was Eddie’s 2nd Match Play Invitational Championship in a row as he had made the match in last year’s tournament, but would eventually lose to Dylan Taylor. Eddie was hoping to get some redemption from last year’s event. Ed and Eddie’s match would be a grind fest with both bowlers struggling most of the match. A few unfortunate splits for Eddie would torpedo his chances at pushing Ed to a 2nd game as he would lose to Ed, 200 to 168. This would give Edward Lee the win and 2 event exemptions for next year.

I just want to say thank you to everyone that has come to support our events this season. I know with the COVID-19 pandemic it has been a rough year, but it’s been great seeing the turnout the last few months and I hope that it continues in

2021. Happy holidays and we hope to see you next season!!!

e&bcworldtournamentnews - Courtesy of e&bcworldtournaments - December 13, 2020.

Scottsdale - - -Alright, bowling friends and enthusiasts, a big shout out to the latest winner of the E&BC Classic Worlds Handicap Tournament goes to Robert Smith Jr. winning the event in classic fashion by a 10th frame roll-off. Robert Smith Jr had a stand off against Scott Sparks, who both were number one and two throughout the tournament. The final match came down to the 10th frame, where Robert needed a total of 9 pins to take the win, but left a pocket 7-10, and then missed picking any pins up to seal the victory, and so the game went into overtime with a 10th frame roll-off. Robert started it off by sparing and then throwing for a 7 count. Robert's handicap gave him 22.6 pins by count. Scott started the 10th frame roll-off strong with a massive pin decapitating strike, but left a 3-10 split and only picked up the 10 pin, calculating his score with handicap to 22.4 pins, giving Robert the win by .2 pins. Congratulations to both of these fine bowlers. We would also like to congratulate Kish Israni on a very fine 3rd place finish and to Danny Scott on a nice 4th place finish. Out of the top four bowlers two: Scott Sparks and Kish Israni were in their first E&BC Tournament.

The tournament went very well and smooth. We would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the event. The entire tournament was very close in in pin count from 1st place through last place. Everyone did quite well.

We were able to give out nearly $1,000 in total prize money (including 1st-4th, brackets, high game, and high series pots) while having only 20 bowlers.

Stay tuned for the next tournament to be at Bowlero Via Linda on the 16th of January. We will be incorporating a side tournament after the main event. More to follow.

Blessings to you all. And, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year upcoming very soon.

Our love and blessings to you all.

TAT Update - Courtesy Of TAT. Press Release, Released on December 14.

Las Vegas, NV. - - -True Amateur Tournaments has issued this press release:

2021 TAT Nationals Covid-19 Update

True Amateur Tournaments has run a Megabuck event in Las Vegas in February for over 20 years and we don't plan on missing this year!

Here are some things you should know about Covid-19 Restrictions in Nevada:

- We will be limited to 96 bowlers per squad (every other pair, 6 max)

- Social Distancing and Masks will be required at all times

Bowling area will be sanitized in between squads

- 1 spectator is allowed per bowler

- Anyone with cold/flu symptoms will not be allowed to bowl

- Temperature checks and hand sanitation may be required upon entry

- Our new TAT system will make things almost touch-less

Las Vegas is currently in a "pause" until January 15th reduced to 25% capacity

- Nevada is scheduled to get over 100,000 vaccines by January 1st starting this week and to go back up to 50% capacity after the pause

What this all means is that we will be running the TAT as long as Vegas is at 50% capacity or greater. We are committed to running The 2021 TAT Nationals at South Point Bowling Plaza and doing everything we can to try to minimize Covid-19 exposure to others.

Each participant will receives a TAT logo mask and there will be hand sanitizing stations set up all around the center. The move to South Point will make social distancing very easy as we are expecting around 300-400 bowlers to attend during the week.

Please email us at info@tatbowl.com with any questions. You can also call us 844-321-8100 or message us directly on Facebook.
