Scottsdale - - - One JBT bowler reached a rare milestone, while another broke through for a first win, in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at Scottsdale's Bowlero Via Linda.

Reigning Desert Open champ Joshua Molloy opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a tough 215-212 win over Katelyn Abigania.  Molloy turned up the strikes in the next match, defeating Chris Mayes 257-147 to reach another final.

Josh, a 9-time JBT champ, then faced fellow 9-time winner Brock Bivins in a match that would make history no matter the result.  Unsurprisingly, both players bowled great, but in the end Brock came up with a 248-236 win, becoming just the 51st bowler in JBT history to reach the rare air of the 10-title club!

Jake King made his first handicap finals of the season a success with a 249-222 win over Nathan Bravo in round one.  Cameron Sager then stopped King 244-212 to reach his first career title match.  Alexander Hughes held off Sager in a back and forth battle all day to grab the number one seed, but there was one more plot twist left as Cameron came up with a big game to beat Alexander and win his first career title.

The day's U17 subdivision win went to Katelyn Abigania over Sager, while Tayler Clark won the day's Girls Scratch crown by beating Abigania in that match.  Daniel Gaudern claimed the ball of the day raffled off from the brands of Brunswick.   Big thanks as always to the team at Via Linda for a smooth hosting job.  Want in on all this fun for all ages and skill levels?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!

Scottsdale - - - Andrew Sager and Christian Ortega were the survivors of a tough pattern at the JBT event at Bowlero Via Linda, earning titles in exciting Arizona Conference action.

The 'plutonium' pattern melted many good players' games, and compounding it was the tense 'super survivor' format, where the low game, and the lowest overall totals, are eliminated game by game.  The scratch division semifinals were carved from a whopping 27 bowlers down to seven.  In that round, Quinten Bell was eliminated on low game, while Josh Molloy, qualifying leader Daunte Uribarri, Shane Smith, and Matthew Garrett bowed out in that order on low totals.  That left Andrew Sager to face off against JR Barczyszyn for the title.  Andrew had one previous title match which didn't go well, while JR made a big leap forward here by making his first finals.  Opens in the 9th and 10th sealed Barczyszyn's fate here, as Sager came through with a solid game and the win, and his first career JBT title.

Twenty-two handicap finalists were also reduced to seven survivors, and in that seven-player free for all, +/- leader Jericho Sargento hurt his thumb and was unable to put up his usual scores, bowing out with low game.  Miguel Espinoza, yesterday's champ Cameron Sager, Nathan Bravo, and Cameron Coleman were eliminated in that order.  That left Christian Ortega, who had been in second behind Sargento, and Lily Winemiller, who threw a 203 scratch game to get enough total pins to stay alive, to play for the title.   Lily bowled well again in the final, but could no nothing but admire Ortega along with all of us, who began the title match with the front six on the brutal pattern, finishing with one of the highest scratch games of the day (246) and the highest handicap game of the day (286), earning his second career JBT title with the impressive performance.

The Sager family's great weekend finished with Cameron beating JR for the U17 subdivision win, and Katelyn Abigania wrapped up another solid event with a win over Koryn Marquez for the girls scratch title.  Tasia Massengale took home the ball of her choice from the brands of Brunswick.  Huge thanks to the Via Linda team for doing a great job hosting a big turnout!  Want in on all this fun for all skill levels?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
